Biography

Anne Underhill was the daughter of Thomas Underhill and Thomasine Caldebeck.[1][2] She was born, say, 1470.[2]

Anne married Thomas Knighton of Bayford, Herfordshire, as his first wife.[1][2] Based on the's estimated date of birth of son Thomas, they were probably married about 1490.

Anne and Thomas had the following children:

  1. Thomas,[1][2] b. say 1490,[2] m. Alice Bull, daughter of Richard and Helen (Skipwith) Bull of Hertford,[2] d. either March 1, 1532/3 or April 23, 1532[2]
  2. Joan,[1] b. say 1494,[2] m. 1st Charles Bull,[1][2] m. 2d Robert Warton,[1][2] m. 3d Thomas Hartewell[1][2]
  3. John,[1] b. say 1500,[2] m. 1st Alice Copwoord,[2] m. 2d Anne (Tirrell) Knight, widow of Edmund Knight,[2] bur. May 7, 1586 in Bayford[2]

Anne may have also been the mother of the follow additional children of Thomas Knighton, although they could instead of been the children of his second wife, Joan (Gascoigne) Collope:

  1. Anne, m. William Mason[1][2]
  2. Elizabeth, m. John Alleyne[1][2]
  3. Thomasine,[1] unmarried in 1544[2]

Anne died sometime before 1506 when Thomas married, as his second wife, Joan (Gascoigne) Collope.[1][1]

I'm curious if any documentation exists to confirm the accuracy of Anne Underhill and Thomas Knighton in this tree.

It's documented in Douglas Richardson's "Royal Ancestry".
