Mary Ann Bellamy was born on 19 August 1825 in Ryde, New South Wales, Australia ^[1][2], the daughter ofJames Bellamy and Hannah Maria Singleton and her siblings were Charlotte (Bellamy) Buckman, Susannah (Bellamy) Smith, William Bellamy, Caroline (Bellamy) McMullen, Ann (Bellamy) Mobbs, Sarah (Bellamy) Allen, Elizabeth Bellamy, James Bellamy, Rachel Bellamy, Joseph Bellamy, Zadock William Bellamy, Martha (Bellamy) Stevens, Hannah (Bellamy) Aiken, Alberta Amelia (Bellamy) Atkins [Half] and Florence Matilda (Bellamy) Veitch [Half].

She married James Henry Shields on 19 October 1844 in at St Anne's Church at Ryde, New South Wales, Australia^[3]and they were the parents of James Shields, William Shields, Joseph Henry Shields, Thomas Shields, George Shields, Samuel Shields, Arthur Shields, Albert Shields, Rachel (Shields) Smith, Mary Anne (Shields) Pogson, Martha Jane (Shields) McMullen and Sarah Shields.

(Note: There was thought to be an unnamed child born to James and Mary Ann on 13 July 1848 Pennant Hills, Greater Sydney, New South Wales, Australia but there are no records to confirm this. There were three children born to Shield/Shields Families in 1848 but none of the parents were James and Mary Ann.)

Mary Ann died on 3 November 1912 in Castle Hill, New South Wales, Australia^[4][5][6]and was buried in the Carlingford Anglican Cemetery ( or St Paul's Anglican Cemetery), Carlingford, New South Wales, Australia^[7][8].

The old lady lived at Pennant Hills nearly all her life, only moving with Mr. Shields to Wollombi for a while. She had eight sons and four daughters. One daughter and one son predeceased her. There are 68 grandchildren and 114 great grandchildren.
