Biography

The LNAB of Ann, wife of Thomas Wilder, is not known with certainty. In 1666, Robert Meeres of Boston named as his executors "My beloved brother James Johnson and my brother Mr. Thomas Wilder".[1] They were not brothers in the sense of belonging to the same church. James Johnson is known to have been married to a sister of Robert Meeres. This makes it a very good possibility that Ann was another sister of Robert and that her LNAB should be Meeres.[2]

Marriage

Married: Ann married Thomas Wilder in April 1640 or 1641 at Charlestown, Massachusetts.
Children of Thomas and Anna Wilder:
  1. Mary Wilder. Born 30 June 1642 in Charlestown.
  2. Thomas Wilder. Born 4 September 1644 in Charlestown.
  3. John Wilder. Born about 1646.
  4. Elizabeth Wilder. Born about 1648. Many internet resources indicate that Thomas and Anna's daughter Elizabeth married Jerathmeel Bowers, but as far as I can tell, that has not been proved.
  5. Ebenezer Wilder. Born about 1651.
  6. Nathaniel Wilder. Born 3 November 1655 in Charlestown. Killed by Indians 31 July 1704.

Death

She passed away in 1692.

Research Notes

Wilder DNA Study: See Donald F. Hansen and Michael F. Hansen, "DNA Solves A Wilder Ancestral Enigma," here. NOTE: there is nothing in this article that discusses Anna/Hanna's origins or her children.

This is copied from Find a Grave and there is no truth in any of it. This profile needs to be merged away. Her first name was Hannah or Anna, and suggested maiden names are Johnson and Mears. From recent research, it is said to be doubtful that she was of the Eames family, and definitely not a daughter of Anthony Eames. However, it is possible she was his niece. Thomas and Anna (Eames) Rose did have a daughter Hannah born in 1622. Anna (Eames) Rose is said to be a sister of Anthony Eames). This appears to be the most plausible theory of Anna's identity.

Source #1 is evidently incorrect in saying Robert Meeres referred to Thomas Wilder as "brother" in his will. A transcript of the will, published in "The New England Historical and Genealogical Register," 17:345, says this: "I doe also make my beloued [sic] brother, James Johnson and Mr. Thomas Wilder, Ouerseers [sic] of this my last will." I haven't seen the original will, if it still exists, but this source is still preferable to Holman's book. I use "sic" only to indicate that the writer of the will used a common, contemporary form of "v" that appears to later readers to be a "u," but the intent was "v." Similar to "s" that looks like "f, but was not intended to be read as "f," and therefore a (minor) transcription error.

We discussed this elsewhere, but I just wanted a reply on here to be clear. The NEHGR abstract is wrong/incomplete. The original will reads "My Beloved Brother James Johnson And my brother Mr. Thomas Wilder overseers of this my last will and testament..."

I see that you redid the source citations after my comment, which is helpful. Thank you.

Johnson-102138 and Unknown-202961 appear to represent the same person because: No sources found to support last name of Johnson. See info in -202961 which also discusses her unproven name of Johnson.

Same birth and death date, and places same spouse, Child on -102138 also on -202961. Please merge to Unknown-202961

Rose-14878 and Unknown-202961 appear to represent the same person because: Same husband, same death data. Note on Rose-14878 indicates it should be merged away

Unknown-202961 and Eames-829 appear to represent the same person because: Same dates, same locations, same husband.

There is an image of a marriage record attached to Eames-829 that gives Eames as her maiden name, the correct birth year and location.

Are there additional records the dispute this maiden name??

Thomas and Anna Wilder's children were: Mary Wilder (Allen) (1642 - ?), John Wilder (1646 – 1681), Nathaniel Wilder (1650 – 1704), Thomas Wilder (1644 – 1716), Elizabeth Wilder (1648 - ?). I believe your list co-mingles children from some other line of Wilder's?
