There were two Jonas Weeds (grandfather and grandson), who lived at different times at Stamford, Connecticut. They both married Marys. The grandson Jonas Weed (1668-1706) married Mary Scofield, daughter of Daniel Scofield, who married as her 2nd to Samuel Hoyt.[1]
This earlier Jonas Weed (1610-1672) married Mary Unknown.
Unfortunately errors in confounding these two families have been repeated throughout various user-submitted data bases and websites.
Please discuss any changes to these families before making them. A lot of mis-information is "out there," and only the most primary sources are appropriate for any pre-1700 profiles, and especially these.
Mary Unknown, the wife of Jonas Weed.[2]
Mary's parents and origin are unknown.[2] She may have been born c. 1616 at England. This birth date is a guess, based on the guessed birth date of her first child (1637).
Mary was not a Hoyt or a Scofield (please see Research Notes for more).
Note: Some online data bases assume she was Mary or Mary Jane Davisson or Davidson. There is no evidence for this, and no source is offered. The profile for George Smith Davidson was removed as father. We do not know the parents of Mary. Please do not connect parents without primary source(s) and prior communication.
Mary married by 1637 to Jonas Weed (p 1957).[2] Mary died before 10 March 1689/90 at Stamford, Fairfield County, Connecticut Colony (p 1957).[2]
Children with Jonas Weed.[2]
The birth order of the children is not known exactly, but has been estimated by Robert C. Anderson, based on the will of Jonas Weed. The boys and girls seemed to be grouped into two groups - the older group: John, Daniel, Jonas, Mary and Dorcas, and the younger group: Samuel, Elizabeth, Sarah and Hannah.
We do not know Mary's exact death date. The inventory of her estate, as "widow Mary Weed of Stamford," was exhibited on 10 March 1689/90 [Fairfield PD case no 6731].[2] Her estate totaled £23 7s 9d and included no real estate.[2]
Jonas wrote his will on 26 November 1672 and it was proved on 7 November 1676.[2] Inventory was 5 June 1676, totaling £116 9s 6d; £58 was in real estate.[2]
This Mary is not a Hoyt or Scofield. There was a Mary Scofield (b c. 1670) who married about 1694 to grandson Jonas Weed (b 1668), son of John Weed. After Jonas died, she married Samuel Hoyt in 1707.[1]
These two different Marys married two different men named Jonas Weed (grandfather and grandson) and are the source of much confusion.[1][3] SEE Generation 3

Yates publishing, however, is listed as one of the reliable sources on the Puritan Great Migration project page. Here is a g2g that explains why: g2g here
I see that some of your information is from the Great Migration, which is in fact the primary source we rely on for Puritan Great Migration profiles. I'm not sure what information you specifically see that's incorrect? You'll see the note at the top of the profile tries to make it very clear the distinction between the two Jonas Weeds' with wives named Mary.
(I did remove some text at the bottom of the profile that said "Alias: Mary Scofield)" which was incorrect (but now is gone).
His grandson married Mary Scofield, daughter of Daniel Scofield. Mary married 1) Jonas Weed, grandson of the immigrant, and 2) Samuel Hoyt. (Her maiden name was not Hoyt) These two Marys are often confused with each other.
Please approve if you agree, Thanks!
This Mary Unknown married to the earlier Jonas Weed (b by 1610, d before 7 Nov 1676 probate)
This one is Mary Unknown and this Jonas was the immigrant.
The other, Mary Scofield, married 1) Jonas Weed and then 2) Samuel Hoyt/Hait, and she lived a little later. Mary Scofield married Samuel Hoyt in 1707.
When it comes to Puritan Great Migration project profiles, we defer to our primary source, which is Anderson's Great Migration series. Anderson calls this woman Mary _____ (maiden name unknown).
Also User-submitted sources are not used on pre-1700 profiles, unless we have absolutely nothing else (and then only temporarily - until we find something primary).
