She was born about 1642 in Hingham, Massachusetts.
Her maiden surname is uncertain. [1] Some suggestions have been Fuller and Deliverance Swanson Peck.
Deliverance first married on 26 Jun 1662 in Rhode Island (either Newport or Block Island ?) [citation needed] to William Cahoon or Colquhoun (1633-1675). This date is after the estimated birth date of son Joseph.
Her husband was killed by Indigenous warriors in 1675, during King Philip's War.
Deliverance married secondly about 1681 in Barnstable, Massachusetts to Caleb Lombard or Lumbert who owned lands inherited from his father. That same year, Caleb was legally appointed guardian of Deliverance's son Joseph Cahoon.
They moved to Monomoit, where Caleb served as a constable and selectman. He died about 1690.
She died about 1705 or 1727 at Block Island, Rhode Island. [citation needed]
There is much tradition that identifies Deliverance as Deliverance Peck and as a daughter of Joseph Peck. However, there seems to be no evidence that Deliverance was a daughter of Joseph Peck, or that her maiden name was even Peck. She was not mentioned in his Will, and he did not record her birth. Joseph Peck did have a daughter-in-law Deliverance (Bosworth) Peck, so perhaps that is how the confusion arose.
Where her supposed marriage date 26 June 1662 came from, is also a mystery.
The information concerning Deliverance Peck is filled with gaps and contradictory information. According to many sources, Deliverance was born on 21 June 1637, although dates as late as 1644 are also suggested. Block Island and Newport (both in Rhode Island) as well as Hingham, England are all mentioned by various sources as being her birthplace. One WikiTree profile gave a range of 1630-1637 for her birthdate.
A passenger listing for the ship Diligent lists Joseph Peck, Mrs. Peck, three sons, a daughter (Rebecca) and five servants as making the voyage from Ipswich, England to Boston, Massachusetts in the summer of 1638. If Deliverance was their daughter, she was born sometime after 1638 but not later than 1644, most likely in the town of Hingham, Massachusetts.
Torrey's New England Marriages prior to 1700 lists wife of William Cahoon as Deliverance ____, and the sources cited support her unknown surname. The listing for Caleb Lambert/Lumberd, likewise lists her surname unknown and her given name.
