Biography

Jane _ _ _ _? was born in and about the year 1819 in the state of Virginia according to the 1850 U.S. Federal State Census, for Campbell County, TN. Her father may have been a "Chapman", but he has not yet been identified yet with any document or source of who he may have been. We do have one source where Jane _ _ _ _? appears to be an "inmate" in her mother, Elizabeth Chapman's Home in the year 1860. Tragedy seems to have hit the area and her husband, Simeon Wilhoit/Wilhite, Jr. appears to have died, while Simeon's oldest son, Pleasant was now labeled Idiotic, and some of their children were displaced in other family homes.

Jane and Simeon most likely married about 1837 in the state of Tennessee. No marriage record has been found for them. According to the 1850 U.S. Federal State Census for Campbell County, TN this would be the possible children for Jane and Simeon.

  • 1. John, (c.1838 - ?)
  • 2. Joseph (c.1840 - ?)
  • 3. Franklin (c.1842- ?)
  • 4. George W. (c.1843 - ?)
  • 4. Mary (c.1847-? )
  • 5. Anna (c.1849 - ?)

Jane _ _ _ _? would have been too young to be the mother of "Pleasant" Wilhoit/Wilhite, as we know by the 1850 & 1860 U.S. Federal Census, she was born about 1819 or 1823. The earliest she may have married Simeon would have been about 1834 making her about 15 years old, but most likely she was about 17 or 18 when she married him, making the marriage year possibly 1836/1837. Peasant's birth year by the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census was 1832, 1833, 1836 and 1832. I Believe the 1850 and 1880 Census were the best answer to when he was actually born, either way it would have made Jane to young to have had him as her son.

It is unknown when Jane _ _ _ _ ? Wilhoit died.
