Profile category is "Needs Validation" & "Needs Transcription" - Which means the uploading of a baptism image (if possible), properly cited so that it will not cause copyright issues, and the full transcription [not only from FamilySearch itself] of the the baptism entry with LNAB (LastNameAtBaptism) to prove the spelling. The project profile (wikitrees-cogh-stamouer-progenitorATgooglegroups.com) has been added to the trusted list of this progenitor profile [Privacy Tab] and then also activated as active manager (though this progenitor profile still has to be validated with a [transcription of a] baptism [image]), and this profile has been Project Profile Protected). The bio has been been integrated as best possible for the time being. Primary records will probably still be around in archives in in Europe and in the Netherlands.

↑But why then the two versions of the family name? One explanation advanced by Johannes Petrus Jacobus Jansen van Vuren in his book is that the Bellingham farm was only officially surveyed in 1870 by Charles Bell who on the official documents (see the Gerrit van Vuren nageslag website for a photo of the survey diagram) wrongly indicated that the farm fomerly belonged to Gerrit Jansen van Vuuren. This 'wrong' spelling of the surname on the official document is what according to Johannes Petrus Jacobus Jansen van Vuren led to most of Gerrits descendants 'wrongly' spelling their surname with two u's. Something is very wrong here. Apart from the fact that no original sources are listed for his parents, I do not think this Johannes actually was a son of Jan Jansz. van Vuren (Jansz_Loyen-1) and Belieke Hermansdr. Heldt (Heldt-99). As you can see in the 2 sources that I just added to this couple, their son Jan Jansz. van Vuren was still alive in 1706 and living in Andel, and was listed as widower of Anthonette vanden Bosch. (if you wish I can provide photos of the relevant pages of the original source). This does not match at all with this Jan van Vuren who is supposed to have deceased in 1667.
I agree. This tertiary source https://vanvuren.tribalpages.com/ shows Gelderland as the more likely place of origin. This is in agreement with most other secondary sources (and going on the toponymic 'van Vuren') The parents of Jansz Loyen-1were added shortly after creation of the so-called father (Jansz Loyen-1) of this profile Van_Vuren-93. I will ask for the removal of the parents. (This is one of the reasons we protect progenitor profiles - in the past it was much too easy to just connect of dis-connect ancestors without proper collaboration). Thanks Jos!
Thanks for your reply. However, it is a bit disappointing to remove some generations from a line that clearly is so important to many people. I really am interested to help out here. For a start it would be a big help to know what the original source was for the wife's name Janet de Vos. Do you have any idea?
Also Andel is very close to Gelderland, basically on the edge of the 3 provinces Noord-Brabant, Gelderland and Zuid-Holland, so I do not exclude the possibility that there is some relation to the Vuren area just a few kilometers away. But we need to find additional sources to prove how.
The project profile [email address removed] has been added to the trusted list of this profile [Privacy Tab] and also activated it as active manager - we are having this profile Project Profile Protected) until such time that the LNAB and other facts can be validated with more valid sources. Van Vuuren-189 and Unknown-253606 appear to represent the same person because: Jan is the firstname (otherwise his son would not have been named Janse / jansz; Vuren is the town he came from (van Vuren), Unknown is the patronymic (because we do not know the first name of Jan's father). For the rest it is the same person. If again not sure, please do not reject but propose with an unmerged match (though I'm sure this explanation will suffice).
Van Vuuren-189 and Unknown-253606 do not represent the same person because: A little more detail is required to confirm that the merge relates to the same person.
Van Vuuren-189 and Unknown-253606 appear to represent the same person because: In order to correct the LNAB into the correct patronymic I had to create a proper profile to merge into. Unknown-253606 is the correct LNAB as the father was named Jan and his child (also from the town of 'Vuren') had the patronymic Jansz / Janse / Jans.
