Rebecca Pinkerton was born in County Tyrone, Ireland in 1813. She married James Brown and moved to Canada sometime before 1861.
Rebecca was a 55 year old farmer and widow during the 1861 Canada Census. She belonged to the Church of England. Rebecca lived in Egremont, Grey County in Ontario with children James, Matilda, William, Ann, John, and Sarah.
During the 1871 Canada Census, Rebecca was a 54 year old widow. She resided in Egremont, Ontario with her children, John (age 23, farmer) and Sarah (age 21). Also in the house were Rebecca Allan (age 7, student), Thomas Daniels (age 18, farm labourer), and Samuel Queen (age 27, schoolteacher).[1]
By the 1881 Canada Census, Rebecca was a 60 year old widow. She was listed as ethnically Irish and belonged to the Church of England. She resided in Egremont in the South Grey District of Ontario with her son James. Her son William and his family lived a few houses away.
Rebecca died on January 15, 1889 in Grey County, Ontario, Canada. She was 76 years old. Interment in Maplewood Cemetery in Grey County, Ontario. A photo of her headstone can be found here: [1].
