Biography

Undocumented suggestions for the name of Thomas Meades wife have included Sarah Wellstead, Sarah Elizabeth Wellstead, Elizabeth Wellstead (who has also been suggested for his mother and the wife of Ambrose Meador), and Sarah Yates. To date, no documentation based on research in original records has been found to support these suggestions, and her name remains unknown. She and Thomas presumably married in Virginia, although there is no record of their marriage. Based on what little is known of their childrens' birth dates, they may have married sometime around 1635 or 1636.

Some undocumented sources also list a Susannah Meador as a daughter of Thomas, but there is no evidence to support such a claim.

When Thomas Meades wrote his will in March 1654/5, he listed his wife as his executor, but did not give her name. The will was entered into probate on 6 June 1655, so presumably she was still living at that time. No other record for her is currently know.^[1]
