Biography
- Thomas West, (John 2, John 1) born about 1670, served as captain of militia of King William County and member of the House of Burgesses from that county (1703-05, 170506, owned 1000 acres there, 1704, and rec'd a patent for 1615 acres in St. John's Parish, King William, 23 Dec. 1714. He married, by 4 Feb. 1694/5 Agnes ______, administratrix with the will annexed of Hubert Taylor, who gave power of attorney, 20 Aug 1703, to William Aylett to relinquish her dower in a deed to John Russell, planter.

- Surname suggestions have included her married name (Claiborne), Thomas (apparently a mistranscription error, putting her husband's given name as her maiden name), and Ester[2] In one place, she is named as "Agnes Frances Estes Burton"[3] (see Research Notes, below).
