Little is known about Dorothy Tuttle. Her birth name may be Dorothy Ernst.[1] Her husband John Tuttle came from Great Britain and settled in Dover as a farmer between 1633 and 1640.[2] It is not known if they were married in England or in New Hampshire, but the latter seems likely based on the birth years of their children.
Dorothy's husband John died intestate in Dover, New Hampshire, in May or June, 1663, about age 45. He was survived by Dorothy and their three children.[3][4] Dorothy was made administrator of his estate and made her first return to court on June 30, 1663. [2][3][4] It is believed she lived several years after her husband's death.[2]
