Services were held February 18, 2000, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Athens Baptist Church Cemetery in Mendenhall. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include a daughter, Sarah F. Smith of Mendenhall; two brothers, William Floyd Sowell, Jr. of Mendenhall and James L. Sowell of Lancaster, CA; five sisters, Myrtle Berry of Harrisville, Berneta Smith of Magee, Virginia Wilkes of Niceville, FLA, Annette Abernathy of Mendenhall and Bobbie Holloway of Lancaster, CA; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Williams; a son, Fred Shows; and parents, William Floyd Sowell and Annie Mae Musgrove.
