Benjamin worked as a farm laborer. In 1870, their family lived in South River Township, Augusta County, Virginia and in 1880 they lived in Mount Pleasant Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania.[2][3]
By 1900, Lucinda had been widowed. She was living with her daughter Anna's family, along with several of her other children, in Washington borough in Washington County, Pennsylvania.[4] By 1910, Anna had divorced and Lucinda and Anna lived together, still in Washinton borough.[5]
No further records have been found yet for Lucinda after the 1910 census. Do you have any additional information?
Research Notes
Niece: A niece, Mary Turner, was living with Benjamin and Lucinda in 1880. More research is needed to identify her and her parent(s).[3]
Another possible daughter: Lucinda and her husband Benjamin are likely to be the parents of Lanna Johnson who was born on 11 Jun 1871. Her birth was reported by her uncle George Johnson.[6]It seems likely that this is the George Johnson who is the father of James H. Johnson whose birth is recorded on the line above Lanna. More research is needed into these potential relationships. If Lanna is the daughter of this Benjamin Johnson, she probably died before 1880 since she is not with the family in the census.
Maiden name: Lucinda's children's records give two possibilities for her maiden name. Her son George's marriage record says her name was Lucinda Jenkins.[7] Her son John's Social Security Application record says her name was Lucinda Brooks.[8] More research is needed to determine if either of these are her maiden name or if either is a married name.
