Biography

Ethel was born about 1901 in Pennsylvania. She married George R. Donaldson in about 1921. In 1930, they were living with Ethel's sister Mary and brother-in-law James Gildea in Buffalo, where Ethel worked as switchboard operator. Ethel and George divorced in 1934. No more information about her origins or her life after the divorce have been located.

Edward Cogan. Suggests Ethel might be the sister of J. Edward Cogan or Mary Walsh (sister of Richard Walsh of NYC)? Or just a friend? Mary was a telephone operator in 1930, so maybe that was the connection.
