Thomas Flint was named in his father's will. The position in the will indicates he was the eldest son.[2] In July 1692 he testified that he was about age 46,[5] so born about 1646. A genealogical record of the family found in the Andover Vital Records indicated he was age 71 at death 24 May 1621 so born about 1645.

Could our Ann "Hannah" Williams Southwick , widow Flint be the unknow spouce?
We know Ann ___ Flint Southwick died between May 28, 1668 when she wrote her will and August 13, 1668 when it was proved in court. I'm not sure who Ann or Alice Williams is who died in 1700.
Most of these references show that Ann Flint is the mother of John Southwick Jr. I was unable to add her as mother because her death date is listed as 1668, and all sources seem to show that John was born Jan 1669.
I think Ann's death date was chosen as 'before Aug 13, 1668' because of her listed will which states "Proved in Ipswich court Aug 13, 1668". Couldn't that actually mean that the will was submitted to the court on that date, not the date she died?
I think Ann Flint's death should be listed as 'after Jan 1669'.
The birth date of your John Southwick Jr does not appear in the vital records, and the January 1669 date is almost certainly wrong. Mary Lovering Holman FASG gives his birth date as "About 1666."
Also, found another deed signed by the son John regarding his father's estate dated 27 March 1685. I assume that means he would have to be 21 by that date?
Good find Marina. It is good evidence that he was almost certainly age 21 at the time of signing the deed, and it is fair to say John Southwick Jr was born about 1664. This fits well with Ann getting remarried soon after her first husband's death in 1663 (as was most common).
I've changed the birth date of John Southwick Jr based on your deed, added some notes and references, and added Ann as his mother. I believe everything makes since now and is consistent with the records.
John Southwick married Sarah Burnett at Salem on February 3, 1669 [3: 12 m: 1668] so a son John born in 1669 is likely the child of John and this Sarah.
When his estate was settled in 1672, Sarah was his widow. Widow Sarah also stated that as nothing was provided for youngest child Sarah ...
The source on his profile Genealogy of the Descendants of Lawrence and Cassandra Southwick of Salem, Mass is riddled with errors .
It shows he had children John, Isaac and Isaac 2 with Hannah, after Hannah's death, and no Sarah 'youngest child' shown there . No children by Sarah Burnett.
These children are all recorded at Salem, Isaac, Isaac, Sarah with mother Sarah Burnett. John's birth is not recorded. I would not rely on any information in that text, unless it can be confirmed in a reliable source.
PS Isaac 1 birth record November 1669, so John would not have been born that same year unless he was a twin and not recorded.
The process of proving a will is when witnesses to the writing of the will testify in a court of law that it is the actual will of the deceased. It is then accepted as a valid public document to be the true last testament of the deceased. It is only done AFTER the person who wrote the will is deceased. Therefore the date a will is proved tells us the person is deceased but not the exact day she/he died. In this case, Ann died before Aug 13, 1668. Ann makes no mention of any Southwick children in her will as she leaves everything to her Flint children. Are you sure she is the mother of John Southwick, Jr.???
Absence of any date for the m. to John Southwick leads to a confusing order of husbands. The 1881 Southwick genealogy shows a m. date of 12 May 1668 (typo yields "1568"); at the very least, I suggest dating the m. as "after 15 Apr 1663" [1st husband's death date] so the two husbands will appear in the correct order. Also suggest placing the m. at Salem (can be marked uncertain) as that was the Southwick family place of residence. Concerns/objections?
Birth date changed from 1620 to 1623 due to FAG error. Both are estimated dates. So I left the change, but if anyone has a good reason to leave it 1620, we can change it back.
Ann Southwick was not the name of Thomas Flint's wife. As far as I can find, the maiden name of his wife Ann is not known. After Thomas died, widow Ann Flint married John Southwick. Could you please change her LNAB to Unknown?
Thanks, Vic
