Biography

Lillie Elma Dean was born on 17 Dec 1898 in Georgia. She was the daughter of Samuel Dean and Cordelia Harris. Lillie passed away on 21 Mar 1988 and was buied in the Unity Cemetery, Crossett, Arkansas.^[1]

1900 Census: Lillie M. Dean, age 2, is living with her parents, Samuel B. (26) and Cordelia Dean, in the Egypt Township area of Ashley County, Arkansas. The record notes that Lillie was born in Georgia during December of 1898. Also in the home are Lillie's siblings Henrietta (6) and Verdie B. (4).^[2]

3 Jan 1915: Miss Lillie Dean, age 18, John Farrar, age 21, are married in Ashley County, Arkansas.^[3][4]

1920 Census: Lillie (20) and John (26) Farrar are living in the home of John's parents, Andrew B. (69) and Maturia (60) Farrar, in the Egypt Township area of Ashley County, Arkansas. The record notes that Lillie was born in Georgia. The couple have 3 children: Jettie (4), Hazel (2), and Robert (1 month).^[5]

1930 Census: Julie S. or Lulie E (31) and John W. (36) Farrar continue to live in the Egypt Township of Ashley County, Arkansas, The record notes that they now own their home. The record also shows that Julie was 16 when she married John who was then 22. The couple now have 5 children: Lucille (14), Hazel (12), James (10), Jewell (8), and Nellie (4).^[6][7]

1940 Census: Lillie (40) and John (46) Farrar are living in Crossett, Arkansas. The reocrd indicates that Lillie was born in Georgia and that she was self-employed as a seamstress. The couple's children James (20), Jewell (18), Nellie (14), Glenn (9), and Syliva (6) reside in the home as does their married daughter Hazel Hart (22) and her son John C. Hart (4).^[8]

13 Mar 1943: Lillie Farrar (42) and Grady Upshaw (40) are married in Mobile, Alabama.^[9][10]
