Biography

When Irene Veronica Ward was born in 1889 in New York, Her father is Cornelius J Ward and her mother, Catherine Cleary. Irene Veronica married Albert Edward Ward on June 21st, 1914 at 225 6th Avenue, Brooklyn, New York in a double ceremony along side her sister Josphine Ward who married Martin O'Neil by Father Hickey. Albert and Delia spent the first years living with Albert’s mother Delia having their first child James A. born on March 28, 1915. Albert and Irene moved to 5305 12th Avenue, Brooklyn about 1917, during this time Albert Edward ll was born on April 2, 1917. Between 1917 and 1920 Albert opened his a Liquor Store (saloon). During their years of marriage they had Raymond born on August 29, 1919, Edwin Ward born June 21, 1921 their only child to be born in Smithtown, New York, Martin F. born on January 31st, 1924 and Irene June born June 26th, 1928 who interred June 28th 1928, Charles Ryan born September 4, 1929 died September 5th 1929, (also memories from family members) a daughter born and died and as an infant. Irene and Albert lived a lavish lifestyle during the early years of their marriage as their speak easy's, bootleg business and other property investments did extremely well, summering at their home on Long Island. They also spent six months in 1927 traveling abroad with Martin O'Neal and Josephine Ward O'Neal (Irene's sister). Albert and Irene raised their children in Brooklyn, New York. Moving to 1824 East 21st Street, Brooklyn around 1927. Then they bought their first home before 1928 at 3224 Avenue L, Brooklyn. Memories have been past down that Albert was a very giving person gifting his wife Irene with expensive jewels and furs. On January 30, 1937 Irene past away. Irene is interred at Holy Cross Cemetery Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, USA Albert continued, in the bar and restaurant business and investing in properties. Albert died in 1959 and is interred next to his wife at Holy Cross Cemetery Brooklyn, Kings County (Brooklyn), New York, USA. [1]
