I was born 15 Dec 1956 in Rochester, New York as Elizabeth Ann Johnson, to Marge, and was relinquished for adoption. I was adopted March 1957 at which time my name was changed to Susan Vetter. My birth mom Marge choose my birth name, she told me. I grew up in Rochester, NY, graduated from Brighton High School in 1975 and achieved an A.S. in Liberal Arts at Monroe Community College in 1979. I spent several years in the U.S. Army and married 29 Sep 1989 to Garnard (Gary) Wemett. I have 2 children, 1 grandchild, 1 step-child, and 2 step-grandchildren.
Much of my employ has been in medical jobs, trained in the Army as a Basic Medical Specialist and Behavioral Science Specialist. I have worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Home Health Aide, Phlebotomist, Emergency Medical Technician, and Patient Care Technician. My husband was employed in the ambulance business for 54 years, working as an Emergency Medical Technician, Dispatcher, & supervisory Dispatcher positions. He also was a volunteer firefighter for 7 years, achieving a rank of Lieutenant when a medical situation made it was necessary for him to resign.
I am a very musical person, still active in musical ventures. I have played clarinet, flute, soprano recorder, guitar, ukulele, mountain dulcimer, and sing. I am part of a senior citizen mountain dulcimer group. I sang in church choirs for years as well as local semi-professional choirs including the Rochester Oratorio Society, Eastman-Rochester Chorus, Finger Lakes Choral Festival and several others. I have had the pleasure of singing in my choruses with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, the London Ontario Fanshawe Chorus & Symphony Orchestra, and others.
In my retirement, genealogy is my addiction. It has been my joy to have found both my birth families. Creating my family tree has been fun and I enjoy corresponding with family members by email, collaborating on our trees. I grew up with one adoptive brother. Our parents were both transplants from the Midwest so I grew up with no local relatives, one reason family is so very important to me. I have 2 biological half-sisters and 4 half-brothers and an adoptive brother, totaling 2 sisters and 5 brothers.
I enjoy genealogy, travel, music, all things French, festivals and fairs. I'm fascinated with the 1000 Islands, Quebec, and France. I'm also a fan of interior design, architecture, landscape design, and other home-related arts.
