Biography

Claes was a son of Frans Harmensz (van de Bogart) and Annetje Tjerks, born about 1670. He passed away in 1727. [1]

Claas, son of Frans Harmense, was one of several youth of Schenectady who were captured in the February 1690 attack on Schenectady and "carried away," apparently to Canada. His father died in the attack. Claas was later redeemed, along with others who had been taken prisoner.[2]

It looks like the child baptized 11 Jun 1727 was Klaes's grandson, not son as assumed by the Canadian researcher. There is a marriage.

This profile has two different birth dates, 1670 and 1680. I think he was born later than 1670, because he was carried away after the Schenectady attack, and the residents taken captive were children (a good bit less than 20 years old). However, because he married in 1699, I think he probably was born earlier than 1680. I suggest saying about 1678. Thoughts on this?

His daughter "Gellesje" (baptised 1711) married Johannes Hall (son of William) on 30 Sep 1743. Search here for "Frans" to find other family members:

Was only able to find him in record with the patronymic of Frans, but in Genealogical notes of New York and New England families Talcott lists him as a son of Frans Harmens Van der Bogaert. He was likely born before 1680 (unsure if before the cutoff) as he married in 1699.

LNAB should probably be Van Der Bogaert or Van Der Bogaerdt, whichever is concluded http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/VAN_DER_BOGAERDT
