Van Auken-35 and Van Aaken-7 appear to represent the same person because: Definitely the same person. Both profiles have the same parents, so there are no conflicts to prevent a merge. Earlier we decided that Van_Aaken was the best LNAB, so Van_Aaken-7 is the destination profile.

Has there been an agreement in the spelling of Van Aken? Hoping to merge the three Elinors and her other duplicate siblings.

Van Aken-72 and Van Auken-35 are not ready to be merged because: There is discussion to the effect that Van Aaken is the correct LNAB.
posted by Ellen Smith
I've also seen indications that van Aaken may have been the preferred spelling for the LNAB for at least some members of this generation of the family. That would suggest that we should restart the proposed merges, and change the destination profile to Van Aaken-7.

Tom, I believe an agreement on the LNAB has been voted on. The winner is Van Aken. There were several Marinus Van Aken's and they have all been merged. I do like to add under other names the other spellings for future Van Aken descendants who join Wikitree.

"Van Aaken" it seems... Suggest more review of the family is in order using actual church records. Names morph across time, Aachen to Aaken to Aken, etc.

Alas they spelled about as well as I do.

Suggest Van Aaken-7 is probably a good collection point...once the duplications are merged... this profile could be renamed as desired.

posted by Tom Quick
Neeltjen was born "Van Aaken", and was married to Jan Eans/Emmens, as "Van Aaken" according to Kingston Reformed Dutch Church Records. Siblings Isaac and Abram were also so named. source: Hoes, KRDC records.

Perhaps the LNAB for generations below Marinus need to be re-thought. Marinus also used Van Aachen...however spelling did not seem a strong point across documents.

Hmm. I may have erred on the direction of the merge I proposed. If her baptism record gives the name as Van Aaken, then that probably should be used as her LNAB.

Van Auken-35 and Van Aken-72 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. Van Aken-72 is the selected merge destination because it is the lowest-numbered profile for the preferred spelling of her LNAB.

Van Aaken-7 and Van Aken-72 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. No conflicts to prevent a merger. Van_Aken-72 is the selected merge destination because this is the project-preferred spelling for this LNAB, and this appears to be the lowest numbered profile for this woman with that LNAB spelling.
