Biography

John was born on 18 August 1783 in Dauphin Co., PA, USA. He was the son of Lambert Van Dyke and Margaret (McMichael) Van Dyke.^[1]

When John was 25 he married Margaret Adams on 11 April 1809. The couple had 10 children: Mary Grimes Van Dyke, Lambert Van Dyke, Margaret Van Dyke, Nancy Van Dyke, Ellen W. Van Dyke, Joseph Van Dyke, Elizabeth Van Dyke, Jane Van Dyke, Catherine Van Dyke and James Henry Van Dyke.^[2]

John died at the age of 93 on 17 September 1876 in Freeport, IL, USA.^[1][3][2][4]
