Margaret was born in 1823 in Schoharie, New York to John Van Schoonhoven and Mariah Shafer. She married George L. White around 1847 and they had a family. Census records give us these names and approximate birth dates: William (b. ca. 1848), Ervin (b. ca. 1852), and Elisabeth "Libbie" (b ca. 1853).*[1][2][3][4] Her obituary on FindAGrave says that Libbie was the only child who lived to adulthood. Margaret died in 1894 and is buried with her husband and parents in the Ono Cemetery.[5]
