June 6, 1907 Indianola Herald Again death has made his entrance among us, summoning one of God's older children to the place up higher. Bradley Vance, our beloved brother and worthy citizen was born in Indiana, Nov. 16, 1836. At the age of three years he came with his parents to Mahaska county, Iowa, where he grew to manhood and at the age of 21, March 2, 1857 was married to Miss Julian Brubaker. To this union were born 12 children, 5 of which, 4 girls, Mrs. Mary Surber, Mrs. Emma Howery, Mrs. Ola Wood, Mrs. Cora S. Kepley and one boy, George Vance, are surviving them. Mrs. Julian [Julia] Vance having departed life in 1901, he again married March 2, 1903 to Mrs. Joanna Essick of Prole, Iowa, who proved to be his faithful companion the remaining days of his life. Mr. Vance was converted in early life was a member of the M. E. Church since 1862, when he moved from Mahaska to Warren County, Iowa in 1864 he transferred his membership to the Spring Hill M. E. Church of which he was a member at the time of his death. He was a bright experience, such as proved a great comfort and source of strength throughout the intense suffering before his departure. He was ready for the summons which he answered like so many of God's children, quietly and peacefully without a word of triumph in his heart. He died at Spring Hill, Iowa, May 31st, 1907. The number of his days here being 70 years, 6 mo. and 15 days. He leaves a wife, 5 children, and scores of friends, in whose memory he will still continue to live.

Services were conducted at the Spring Hill M. E. church by the pastor, who spoke from the words found in Rev, 14-13. After the service the remains were taken to the Webb Cemetery, near Spring Hill for interment. Benj. R. VanDyke.
