Biography

In "An account, historical and genealogical, from the earliest days till the present time, of the family of Vance in Ireland, Vans in Scotland" much is recounted of the families of Vans/Vance in an oral genealogy from a grandson of John Vance who in turn was the son of Lancelot Vance. Unfortunately he has missed one generation and stated that a daughter of John Vance married Andrew Jackson when infact the daughter had married the father, Dr Joseph Jackson as we know Andrew Jackson had married Elizabeth Hutchinson, but the book does show who the Vances married by surname, both in Ulster Ireland and in America, many genealogy trees use this book without actually knowing what the source is.^[1]
