Biography

Notables Project
Alfred Vanderbilt is Notable.

Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt, Sr., was an extremely wealthy American businessman and sportsman, and a member of the famous Vanderbilt family.[1]

Alfred was aboard the Lusitania. He went down with the ship off the coast of Cork County, Ireland.[2] As reported by The New York Times, he had given up his life-jacket to a woman with an infant, and was last seen buckling her into the life-jacket. He did this knowing that he could not swim and would surely drown.
