He was married twice. His first wife's name has not been determined. They were married in 1778. His second wife was Abigail Mattox who he married in New Jersey and is dated 20 January 1778 (Document Number XV). This family migrated south in the early 1780, living first in Virginia and then moving into North Carolina.
