Biography

William Vanover is the descendant of a New Netherland settler.

From Find A Grave:

Bill was the 4th of eleven children, born to Cornelius VI and Sarah (Hill) Vanover.

Bill was a farmer, teacher, and justice of the peace for Wise County, Virginia when the county was formed in 1856. He was also the first Commissioner of the Revenue for Dickenson County, VA, which was formed in 1880. (source: The Vanover Family, by Greg Vanover)

Bill married (1st) Elizabeth "Betsey" Howell and they had ten children:

Wesley and William Vanover went to Kentucky to see their brother, John, who was reported to be critically ill. They have returned and report his condition more favorable.[1]

Bill died at the age of 84 years.
