PS, I see a Rose posted a message about your GEDCOM without the links. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

Help pages give lots of info about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Please read the instructions for reviewing your GEDMatch Report if you want to import it into WikiTree.

Discussions tagged as GEDCOM in the G2G forum may also be helpful.

Hello Cher

Thanks for joining WikiTree. I'm a Mentor available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may have about WikiTree.

How To Use WikiTree is a good starting point, and the Help Index is an important place to find out how to do most tasks.

Do you have Royal Ancestors? They are already here on Wikitree! Rather than create duplicate profiles for them, please contact the EuroAristo Project to discuss connecting your family line to their profiles.

If you have questions, feel free to ask me via my profile page.

Maryann ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Cher,

Great to see your message regarding your desire to build your family tree. I agree with your statement that our ancestors sometimes don’t make it easy for us to find them. I have found WikiTree to be an excellent tool for research and collaboration.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree. Once you entered your family members it is exciting to see other people finding your family profiles, asking questions, and expanding it.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.

Great to have you on board, good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree.

Hi, I would like to volunteer to contribute to the shared family tree. I have been trying to find my ancestors on and off for about 10 years so am not a seasoned genealogist by any means. Finding my ancestors has/is a challenging prospect - they didn't make things easy for us did they?  :0

Looking forward to being accepted as a member of Wikitree

Hi! I noticed you have a GEDCOM badge. WikiTree Help pages give lots of information about the process; a good starting place is Before you import a GEDCOM. And here's a link to great instructions on adding a GEDCOM to WikiTree that you might find helpful.

Hello & Welcome, to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile per person.

"Sources are critically important for genealogy. Some even say that genealogy without sources is mythology. Even if you're just a casual family historian recording modern family history, you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from."

Feel free to ask questions at our G2G forum. Also, our help pages menu, top right, has some very useful information.

Our Honor Code is why our community is such a friendly place to grow your family tree, so please take some time to read it. Want to join us? Check the volunteer box and leave a brief comment about your genealogical journey. Happy researching!

Regards Rose - Greeter
