Research Notes

Disputed Death Date/Place

"The date when Ruth Vaughan Dillard died is unknown. 1844 supplemental proceedings in Rabun John’s pension application after his death verify that he left no surviving widow which indicates that Ruth Vaughan died between 1840 and 1842 and predeceased Rabun John Dillard. Her place of burial is not marked by a grave stone. 1844 Supplemental proceedings in his pension application after his death establish Rabun John Dillard’s date of death as June 4, 1842."[2]

Previous information was Jackson, North Carolina, USA 1841.

Vaughan-3691 and Vaughan-2048 appear to represent the same person because: Hey Otha,

Thanks for the email and I see what's going on. We need to get your profile merged with the other profile to lessen confusion. I also see that there have been some poor edits going on and will work to correct those too. Thanks Mags

Hey Susan and Teresa,

"Rabun" John Dillard and his spouse Ruth Vaughn have been thoroughly researched. We have the honor of having one of the Foremost Dillard researches on WikiTree, though he hasn't been very active as of late. I know John M. Dillard personally. We lived in the same town, even worked on the same street. I have also helped him with some of his research starting back in the 1980s for one or two of his published works/books. I also know him through the Dillard Family Association, of which Otha Vaughn, Great gran...of this Ruth Vaughn is now president. All of the information on John and Ruth has been researched and vetted and there really are no questions about who they are. John Dillard Married Ruth Vaughn. I have created a page for the Dillard family association here on WikiTree where many of the Dillard researchers' works, have been posted by permission. Dillard Family Association. I don't think I have posted John M. Dillards, 2012 book or a other published materials, but if you have questions or need look-ups I would be more than happy to do look-ups for you. Mags

Vaughan-2848 and Vaughan-2048 do not represent the same person because: Ruth Dillard (Vaughan-2848) and Ruth Dillard (Vaughan-2048) - same person?

Comparing the two profiles, too many data fields are either conflicting or missing to tie them together at this time. I will keep an eye on both profiles and if I see enough information to tie them together in the future, I will suggest a merge.
