Biography

Census records show Spencer was b. before 1775. Tax Digest suggest he was b. before 1774. If he completed his medical training before settling in Mecklenburg, Virginia, he may likely be a few years older.

Only two children, Bethea and Jeremiah, are known (from deed records) to be from his second wife Elizabeth Williamson.

He was probably in his twenties when first married, making his birth date circa 1770.
