I see that there is confusion over who the mother of Robert Whitney's sons is. The matter is widely discussed by experts, but as for this site, how can Elizabeth Vaughan have been the mother of James Whitney, eldest son, if she was born 14 years before James? I'm aware that such happened at times, but it is highly unlikely. Is it not more possible that James is the last child of Constance Touchet (though as I write this, I haven't cross-checked the birth year of her last listed daughter)?
Richardson, Douglas. Royal Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, in 5 vols. (Salt Lake City, Utah, 2013), Vol. I, page 355.
Robert Whitney, Esq., married (2nd) Elizabeth Vaughan, daughter of Thomas Vaughan, by Ellen Gethin, daughter of Dafydd ap Cadwgan ap Phylip Dorddu. They had four sons, James, Esq., John, Hugh, and Robert, and three daughters, Eleanor, (wife of John Puleston), Sibyl (wife of Roger ap Richard), and Elizabeth (wife of John Pye). Robert Wh[i]tney, Esq., died shortly before 6 October 1494. His widow, Elizabeth, was living 4 May 1525.
The given name of Robert Whitney's second wife, daughter of Thomas Vaughan of Hergest, was Elizabeth, not Alice - per Richardson, Plantagenet Ancestry (see link in note at top of Whitney-979)
The birth year is an unsourced guess.
Richardson's Royal Ancestry, vol I, page 355 BEVAN #14 lists him as son of Elizabeth.
