Michel Vincent was born about 1668, most likely in Port-Royal, since his parents Pierre Vincent and Anne Gaudet were settled there in 1671 as shown in the first Acadian census.[1] They owned 18 head of cattle, 9 sheep and 16 arpents of land. There were 3 boys and 1 girl in the household.[2][3]
Michel lost his mother when he was only about 11 years old as she was not counted in the 1678 census at Port-Royal.[4] Michel was one of four boys and there were also two girls, all between the ages of 7 and 15.
In 1686, at Port Royal, Michel VINCENT, aged 18, was living with his brother, Thomas VINCENT, aged 20.[5]
Michel was married twice, and he fathered 19 children.
Michel (20) married Marie Josephe Richard (14) (born about 1674 in Port-Royal, Acadie, Nouvelle-France; daughter of Michel Richard and Madeleine Blanchard) in 1689 in Port Royal, according to the deposition of their descendants at Belle-Isle-en-Mer.[2] Their known children, all born in Pisiguit, were:[6]
  1. Marie Vincent (abt. 1690–1758) .
  2. Agnes Vincent (abt. 1692–abt. 1758) .
  3. Anne Vincent (1693–1757) .
  4. Marguerite Vincent (1696–aft. 1762) .
  5. Elisabeth Vincent (abt. 1697–aft. 1763) .
  6. Claire Vincent (abt. 1706–1769) .
  7. Pierre Vincent (abt. 1708–bef. 1760) .
  8. Antoine Vincent (abt. 1709–1776)
By 1693, Michel and Marie Josèphe had settled at Les Mines. They owned 3 arpents of land, 6 head of cattle, 5 sheep, 3 hogs and 1 gun. They had 2 young girls.[7]
They were counted again in the censuses at Les Mines between 1701 and 1707.[8][9][10]
Michel (41) married Anne Marie Doiron (19) (born in 1690 in Port-Royal, Acadie; daughter of Jean Doiron and Marie-Anne Canol) in 1710 in Pisiguit, Acadie.[2] Their known children were:[6]
  1. Jean Baptiste Vincent (abt. 1711–bef. 1757) .
  2. Anne Marie Vincent (abt. 1713–1790) .
  3. Madeleine Vincent (1714–1782) .
  4. Élisabeth Vincent (abt. 1718–1758) .
  5. Marie Marguerite Vincent (1720–abt. 1760) .
  6. Joseph Vincent (1722–1756) .
  7. Charles Vincent (1725–1756) .
  8. Anne-Euphrosine Vincent (1726–aft. 1786) .
  9. Michel Vincent (1729– ) .
  10. Marie Josephe Vincent (abt. 1731–1812) .
  11. Jeanne Vincent (1734– )
By 1714, Michel was back in Pisiguit with his second wife, Anne Marie. There were 3 sons and 5 daughters living with them.[11]
Michel passed away after 1735 (birth of last child). Stephen White did not give a date or location for his death.[2]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Michel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Michel:

All,

Volume 2 Port-Royal of the Histoire et Généalogie des Acadiens by Bona Arsenault page 819 indicates Michel Vincent was born in Port Royal to Pierre Vincent and Anne Gaudet in 1667. I know this is not an original source, but if it is an acceptable source could it be included as a reference for the birthplace and birth year?

Thanks,

Tony Simon

Hi Tony,

I added the source to the profile. It is likely that he was born in Port-Royal since the family appeared in censuses there starting in 1671. His estimated date of birth is very close to the one given by genealogist Stephen A. White and other researchers, that is 1668, based on his age in various censuses. No baptism or burial records have been found for him so the censuses are the only clues. Bona Arsenault didn't always work from original records and his work has many mistakes.

Hi Gisèle

Thank you for adding the reference and providing some insight to the accuracy of the Arsenault works. While I have some free time to pursue genealogy efforts, I am still an amateur, so I appreciate the information and feedback.

Vincent-2901 and Vincent-667 do not represent the same person because: Different first name at birth and different dates of birth

Vincent-2901 and Vincent-944 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents, same place and date of birth. Clear duplicate.

Yes it looks like someone has duplicated this whole family. I proposed a few merges, but there are a total of 19 actual children for this man and most of them were duplicated along with both of his wives.
