- WALTER EDWARD VIRTUE III, age 66, of Miller Station Road, Hopedale, died Tuesday morning in Steubenville, after a lengthy illness.
- Born at Hopedale July 19, 1939, he was a son of the late Walter and Marian ( Taninecz ) Virtue.
- He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith ( Taylor ) Virtue, who died in 1984 ; a daughter, Susan Bausell and sister, Camilla Monaco.
- He was a 1957 graduate of Jewett High School, a retired bricklayer of Weirton Steel for over 35 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and the Jewett Sportsman Club.
- Surviving are his wife, Effie ( Helms ) Virtue of Hopedale ; two sons, Walter ( Stacy ) Virtue of Adena : Michael ( Emily ) Virtue of Jacksonville, FL ; two daughters, Kathy Barrickman of Jacksonville, FL : Elizabeth Virtue of Ohio ; brother, Steve ( Carla ) Virtue of Mathias, WV ; three sisters, Patricia ( Glenn ) Wiley of Malvern : Nancy Drabick of Amsterdam : Marian ( Fred ) Pepperling of Phoenix, AZ ; 8 grandchildren ; 1 great-grandchild.
- Services Saturday, August 13, 2005, at Blackburn Funeral Home, Jewett, with Rev. Steven Virtue officiating.
