Author: Raymond C. Whisnant: www.raymondwhisnant.com
Lived in the French speaking region of Switzerland, between Lausanne and Montreux. The Visinand family were winemakers. Author's note: It is said that he had three wives. One wife was said to be Jeanne Ramirez, married 3 Feb 1666, Corsier-Sur-Vere, Switzerland., before 1684. Another of his wives, I have heard, was named Anna, another was said to be called Johanna. The information presented below came from the Quarterly of the Pennsylvania German Society, Volume 12, No. 2, April 1978, page 17-18:
In an article 'Schweizer Einwanderer in Edenkoben' published in 'Pfalzische Familien und Wappenkunde,' Band 4, Heft 11 (1963) is the following entry:
Visinant (Wissinant), François 'aus dem welschen Schweitzerland bey Lausanne geburtig.' Hofmann im Kloster Heilsbruck. His wife was Anna, and they had a son Philip Peter baptized 13 Apr 1684.
In the Hasslock marriage record 12 Apr 1700, Frantz Fisinant married Johanna widow of the deceased Martin------. (Note: this entry was very faded and both dates and names may be inaccurate.)
The Wisenandt family settled near Muddy Creek in Lancaster Co., Pa. They were early members of the Reformed church there. In 1743, Johan Peter, Adam, and Peter Wisenandt all signed the Reformed Church Doctrine.
John Peter Wissenandt and Maria Magdalena Suni married on 7 Feb 1837 by Rev. John Caspar Stoever. Both Adam and Peter had children baptized in the Muddy Creek Reformed record. In the 1760's the Wisenandts left Pennsylvania and moved to the Lincolnton, North Carolina area.
Author's note: Heilsbruck was a convent until 1650, and then became an estate.

His birthplace has been reported as Corsier, Canton of Vaud, Switzerland and as Marcon, Lausanne, Canton of Vaud, Switzerland. His birthdate has been listed as 1646 or 1647.
Francois moved his family from Switzerland to Germany sometime around 1645. Once leaving the French-speaking Vaud area of Switzerland and moved to Germany, he was known by the German translation of Francois (Franz) Visinand. He first settled in Edenkoben where he was a master winemaker at Heilsbruck until his death. Franz also worked as a caretaker for a monastery. Before he died (abt 1700), he moved to nearby Hassloch.
