Lawrence was the first son of Albert J and Mary Timmons. According to sources, he often wore the surname "Timmons Volz". His mother died when he was 2 years old and since his father remarried, he probably knew his step-mother as his only mom. He moved with the rest of his family to Oklahoma City during the land run and spent most of his life there.
In January 1895, he got both his legs crushed by a horse, family and friends were afraid that he would be crippled for life however he got better in a month and even registered for WW1 draft in 1918. He died on the 31st January 1928 in Oklahoma City. He is buried in Rose Hill Burial Park, in Oklahoma City.
