Homer Vos was the son of Charlie Andrew Vos and Ina Belle Rollison. He and his younger brother, Glenn grew up in Almyra, Arkansas County, Arkansas. As a young man Homer moved to Texas where he worked until he was drafted into the service during World War II. He served in the United States Army Air Corps from October 1941 until November 1945. After the war he returned to work for Abercrombie Company in Sweeny, Texas. In 1948 he married Alma Faye McAdams and together they raised three children. His wife is Alma Faye McAdams (1923 - 1993)
