DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.

This profile should be removed. there is not one bit of fact in this and it perpetuates incorrect information except that A John Wall served in the Revolution. Unfortunately Ray Edward Wall has done quite a bit of incorrect information, his kin has rectified this and no longer a perpetuates his inaccuracies. Unfortunately many people have taken his info and continues to use it. Documentation is paramount

Margaret Shell who married james Sallest had sister Phanney Schell who was the 1st wife of Conrad Wall Jr. The Shell Sketch mentions Conrad as Fanny's husband. Father Jacob Shell's will mentions Fanny Wall on 17 Feb 1795. The order in the will might suggest she was younger than sister Gertrude(1745) but older than Mary/Mollie(<1762). Unsourced roots-web entries show her born about 1748. Fanny may have died not long after her mention in Jacob's will. A 1796 Montgomery County, VA land transaction has Conrad and wife 'Elizabeth' (WE NOW KNOW IS RIFFE or Rife) deeding to James Sallis. It would follow that Elizabeth was probably the female b. 1770-1775 from Conrad's 1810-1830 Census. She was Conrad's second wife.
THIS is not correct John Wall Sr. the original JOHN WALL, along with brothers Adam, Conrad Sr. & sister APfel, married MARGARET UNKNOWN> When John Sr died his wife Margaret re married to Nicholas Sallast. They had one son JAMES who married MARGARET SHELL
Early Adventures on the Western Waters , Vol 1 Vol II by Mary B. Kegley & F. B. Kegley p.366 Quote"James Sallust was the son of Nicholas and Margaret Sallust. His mother was the widow of John Wall Sr. of Augusta Count (later became Montgomery Co. ) and James Sallust had 2 step brothers (Sic half brothers (Adam & which later in books she rectifies) who settled on the east side of New River near Stroubles Creek" ... The marriage bond of James and Margaret Shell was dated Nov 4 1780 with Adam Wall as surety (Montgomery Co. Marriages)
Conrad Wall brother of John, Adam Apfel and Martin was never the son of John Wall or of Margaret Shell, this is a complete mix mash. Conrad sr. is acknowledged to be the son of Has George Wall and he married Caty Herman their son John married Dorcas Maddox, They had Daniel Wall who married Sarah Harless...that is the correct linage, someone mixed in the English Wall line from N.C, with the German line. this profile just perpetuates misinformation.
