Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Conrad Wall Sr. was a Virginia colonist.

Conrad was born before 1721 based on the minimum age (16) to be listed on immigrant ship manifests. He arrived in Philadelphia on the vessel Saint Andrew in 1737. Conrad's date of death is unknown, but presumed to be by about 1800 in Virginia.

Arrived Philadelphia on ship St. Andrews Galley 09/26/1737" John Stedman Master, from Rotterdam last of Cowes" RUPPS 09/26 /1737

He first appears in Virginia records in 1771 when he reported he had raised 475 lbs of hemp. The same year he bought land on the west side of the James river (which starts in Botetourt county) where he apparently lived. In 1783 he was exempt from future taxes because of his age. Although no record of his death, his sister named his four children, John Adam Conrad Jr & Sally in her will. His sons John and Adam appeared to have stayed in Botetourt county where their marriages were recorded. It appears it is Conrad Jr. that moved to New River. p.278 Abigail Hill , his sister, names him and 3 sons and daughter in her will (Adam, John and Conrad Jr. and Sally). [1]

He is mentioned in his sister's (Apfhel) known as Abigail will, and also noted gift to his sons John, Adam, and Conrad (Jr.) as well as his daughter Sally. Also mentions John Wall's son Adam, whom she stood Godmother to. He is believed to have had 9 children.

He was born about 1713, died 1793 in Botetourt County, Virginia. [2]
