Biography

Tillett M. Warden was born on 19 Jan 1808 in Madison County, Kentucky, United States. He was the son of James Warden and Jemima Thorp. When Tillett's grandfather moved his family to Kentucky, they changed their name from Warden to Walden. Tillett did not want to change his last name and for this reason his family is recorded as Warden.

Tillett married Eliza (Amas) Bartlett on 24 Feb 1840 [1841 according to marriage record] in Madison County, Kentucky. Eliza was born in Bristol, England on 25 Mar 1815. In Eliza’s marriage record record to Tillett M. Warden, the record states that Eliza is the widow of Joseph Bartlett. Eliza and Tillett had seven known children: Marvin; Mortimer #1 who died at age 1; Mortimer #2, who died at age 78; Isabella; Eliza; Clarence; and Fannie.

In about 1845 they moved their family to Crawford County, Arkansas. Tillett studied to become a medical doctor. They lived on a farm, but his occupation is listed as “physician”. Tillett and Eliza lived the remainder of their lives in Crawford County, Arkansas. Tillett passed away in 1894 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. He is buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas, USA.
