Arama or Adam as he was also known was born around 1870 in Foxton.[1] He was the eldest son of Richard Walden and Roka (Ruth) Awaiki.[2] Adam's Father was the son of English Settlers and his Mother was Maori.
Arama was 13 years old, when his Mother passed away and perhaps it was around this time that he began to live in Raupanui, a Maori settlement near Eketahuna.[3]
Arama married Te Rehu (Te Wharekiri) Pirere and together they had 14 children.
Arama passed away at 5:30am on the morning of 11 August 1913, aged 43 years. He was buried at the Hamua Cemetery, Eketahuna. [4]
