Obituary

Betty Lee Sickler, the devoted, loving daughter of Harry and Ellen Waldman (since passed), and the loving, thoughtful, caring, and selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt and cousin, passed from this earth and to her heavenly resting place on April 13, 2012. There, Betty will be with God, and with her mother, father, and daughter, Vikki, who passed almost seven years ago. Betty is survived by her sons, Butch Sickler, Buz Sickler and Rich Sickler, grandchildren, Lonnie, Shantell, Ryley, Avery, Shauna and Alan and great-grandchildren, Little Roger Coy, Payton, and Alan's children. Betty was such a very special daughter, wife, mom and grandmother, and she was a dedicated, lifelong friend to any who would be fortunate enough to know her kindness, warmth, and beautiful smile. Betty always put others first in her life, and she was so appreciative of anything others would do for her. As a mom, she protected, guided, and loved, unconditionally, all of her children. And, as did her mother and father before her, she taught her kids and grandkids to be respectful and kind to others; to be grateful for what others do for us; to be strong, yet compassionate and to live life honorably and with dignity. Betty had an exuberant zest for life that was unbridled and contagious to all with whom she would come into contact. Betty loved to explore, discover new places, and make new friends, wherever her travels would take her. And, throughout most of her adult life, despite the unjust number of medical issues that she faced, as well as any accompanying pain and lack of mobility that ensued, Betty continued to laugh, have fun, read Louis L'Amour books, visit with family and friends, play Bingo, inspire those around her, and live her life to the fullest. That Betty became somewhat limited in her ability to do some things in later years, did not deter her for one moment from always giving things a try. She persevered in all things, and although some were difficult from a physical standpoint, she was a brilliant woman, and invariably would do her best to turn an uncomfortable situation into one that was more bearable - and usually with a smile on her face. But, above all, Betty, like her mother, Ellen, was more concerned about other's health and well-being throughout her life-and during her final hours-than about her own comfort and welfare. Betty Sickler was a one-in-a-million daughter, wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law and friend, who unselfishly gave of herself so that others would be happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. This was the way that she was taught, and it was the only way that she knew. Betty's beautiful presence on this earth will be dearly missed by all who have known her loving, caring ways during her very full, productive, fun, and challenging, 84 years of life. Her peaceful transition into the next phase of her life in Heaven will be a glorious and fulfilling one, for that is exactly how she lived her life here on earth. Betty knew no other way. God bless you Miss Betty Lee - we all love you and will miss you. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Las Palomas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 8100 Palomas NE. A Mother is a Gift from God - A blessing from above. A shelter from her children's storms; An endless source of Love. Our lovely Mom was this and more; She's blessed us since our birth. And, once again, from Heaven, she'll protect us here on earth.
