Thomas was born about 1765.[1]

  • Fact: Burial (1830) Tuckaleechee Cove, Blount, Tennessee, United States

  • Fact: Burial (1830) Tuckaleechee Cove, Blount, Tennessee, United States
  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Thomas Walker was b. in 1765 Washington, Tennessee- d.1830 in Blount, Tennessee, 9HTD-BFN. He married Elizabeth Betsy Magill (b.8/1/1753 in Albemarle Parish, Surry, Virginia- d.1830 in Blount, Tennessee, LDM7-MNN) on 10/26/ 1787 in Greene, Tennessee. They had 17 children, Capt. William Walker was the 2nd.

Note: The following information was taken from an excert from the book, The "Connection" in East Tennessee, Page 82. Thomas Walker, Sr. married Oct. 6, 1789 in Greene Co., Tenn. to Elizabeth Magill. Tom Walker, Sr. was according to a son who was living in 1880, born in Tenn. Other than this we know very little about him. He is metioned in his father's will of 1796 and was living in Greene Co. when one of his children was born in 1800. On 10-7-1811 in Blount Co., Tenn. a Thomas Walker was appointed as Lt. in the 12th Reg. (this could have been his son Tom). In 1815 a Joseph Walker deeded land in Blount Co. to Peter Snider and stated that it adjoined the land of Tom Walker (again this could be the son of Tom Walker, Sr.). In 1803 Tom Walker, Sr. received his share of his mother's estate. When the land of his father was divided by his brother in 1823 he is not mentioned, as he was not willed a share of the land.

Tom Walker, Sr. may have died in Greene County in the early 1800's but as his children are all early residents of Blount County, Tenn. it leads one to think he also moved there.

The late J.B. Lawson, genealogist of Sevierville, Tenn., told Inez Burns, historian of Blount Co., that her first Walker ancestor in the county was Thomas Walker, Sr., (father of William walker and James Magill Walker) a wounded Revolutionary War veteran. No pension record of Tom Walker, Sr. has been found. He could have left Blount county early and moved on west or south with a married child. This does not seem likely as in 1830 a female age 70-80 was living in the home of William Walker in Tuckaleechee Cove. This elderly woman was not the mother of William's wife (she was dead ), so it is reasonable to suppose that she was William's mother and the widow of Tom Walker, Sr.

Walker-31894 and Walker-117 appear to represent the same person because: same years of birth and death and places, same wife, same daughter

Walker-10010 and Walker-117 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and wife. Birth date, the same. Borne in Greene Co. Married Elizabeth McGill in Greene County. Death date differs. Research in "The Connection in East Tennessee" by Olga Jones Edwards and Izora Waters Frizzell, on page 82, the authors propose that Elizabeth was widowed and living in household of son William in 1830. They state that Elizabeth's father's Will awarded on 19 Jul 1806 to his daughter "Elizabeth, wife to Thomas Walker" a share of cattle. The Will said wife, not widow. The authors believe Thomas died before 1830, but after Jul 1806.
