Biography

Abigail Walker's birth and parents are not known for certain, but she might be the daughter of Thomas and Mary Walker, born Oct. 29, 1679 in Sudbury.

She married Henry Bridgham on February 6, 1700 in Boston, officiated by Samuel Sewal, Esq.

After Henry's death, it appears that she married John Dixwell on April 18, 1723.

Research Notes

From "Families of Ancient New Haven, Vol. III," p. 544,

"Dixwell, John, b c. 1607, d 18 Mar 1689 ae. 82 ... m (2) Oct 1677 NHV---Bathshua da. Jeremy & Elizabeth How, b c. 1646, d. 27 Dec 1729 ae 83 Mid.
"1 Mary, b 9 Jun 1679 NHV; m 23 Dec 1707 NHV---John Collins of Mid.
"2 John, b. 6 Mar 1680/1 NHV, d 2 Apr 1725; m (1) 1 Sep 1708 NHV---Mary da. John & Mary (Rutherford) Prout, b 16 Apr 1686 NHV; m (2) 18 Apr 1723 Abigail Bridgham. Children: (1) Basil, (2) Elizabeth. (3) John.
"3 Elizabeth, b 14 July 1682 NHV, d s. p."

So it is probably this Abigail Bridgham (widow of Henry Bridgham) who married John Dixwell.

"Massachusetts, Town and Vital Records, 1620-1988" lists the birth of Abigail Walker on Oct. 29, 1679 to Tho[mas] and Mary Walker in Sudbury, Mass. This is probably the same Abigail Walker.

The Boston Evening Transcript ran a Genealogical column twice a week. On July 3, 1905, part of the column addressed the will of Thomas Walker, who died in 1725. In part:

"To my dau. Abigail, now wife of Elder John Dixwell, a single share deducted £400 she having received that much since her late husband (Henry) Bridgham deceased."
