Asaph Walker, born 1735 or Sep 1729 in Virginia. Died October 21, 1808 in Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky.

Asaph married Judith Watkins who was born [September 22,]1742. Died September 26, 1812. Probably married between 1762 and 1765 in Cumberland Co., VA (or Chesterfield).

Asaph lived in Henrico, Albermarle and Buckingham Counties where most of his children were born. Judith Watkins born at Monicantown, Henrico Co., VA. They moved to Madison Co., KY about 1783 and bought farm about 1790.

Asaph Walker and Judith Watkins’ children were: Stephen Watkins, James, William, John Watkins, David Veril, Celia, Judith, Elizabeth and Mary Watkins.

Land office records, Richmond, Virginia at a court held for Buckingham County, VA 13th of March 1780, Asaph Walker made oath that he served six months in the last French and Indian war, 1758 as a soldiar under Col. Byrd and was regularly discharged: that he never claimed any land for his services which is ordered to be certified to the Register of the Land Office. Warrant issued to Edward Peters – assignee of Asaph Walker.

Col. James Byrd, commander of Fort Augusta in 1758. Asaph Walker doubtless a grandson or great grandson of Col. John Walker or Thomas Walker, Burgess’ from Glouster and King & Queen Counties.


According to tradition, Asaph moved from Buckingham co VA to Madison co KY, in 1781 (or 1782, or 1783). A better date for the move (~1788) is found from document: In 1787, Asaph Walker appears on the tax list for Buckingham co VA; In 1789, Joel Watkins records in his diary, a visit to Asaph Walker, in Madison co KY.

May have WRONG Wife listed: Harper source page 212 See 4th child which shows that the Judith Watkins, daughter of Judith Trabue and Stephen Watkins, married Williamson Pittman.[1]

He married Judith "Dupuy" Watkins on September 22, 1762, in Cumberland, Virginia.[2] They had 12 children in 32 years. He died on October 21, 1808, in Richmond, Kentucky.
