Biography

Walter John Walker was born on 10 Sep 1868[1] in Macdonald River, New South Wales, Australia as the first child of Aaron Walker and Frances Morris. He had ten siblings, namely: Aaron Hilton, Mary Jane, William Arthur, Frederick Thomas, Alfred Edgar, Edwin George, Bertram Oswald, Frances Mary, Harold Geoffrey, and Amy Tryphosa. He died on 21 Jun 1936[2] in Malvern, South Australia, Australia. When he was 26, he married Minnie Hilton Eather, daughter of Charles Eather and Eliza Hough, on 10 Apr 1895[3] in Richmond, New South Wales, Australia.

OBITUARY
REV. W. J. WALKER
Former President Of Methodist Conference
The Rev. W. J. Walker, of Dover street. Malvern, a former President of the Methodist Conference in this State, died on Sunday. Born at Hawkesbury, New South Wales, 68 years ago. Mr. Walker was educated at a local school and at Newington College, Sydney. He was ordained in 1891. For the next 17 years he filled various charges in New South Wales, and in 1908 he was transferred to South Australia. After having been pastor at Port Pirie, Semaphore, Mount Barker. and Malvern, he returned to Sydney. In 1926 he came again to South Australia, and was ap pointed to Crystal Brook. After a period at Kadina. He went to Semaphore. Mr. Walker took office as President of the Conference in 1933, in succession to the Rev. S Carroll Myers. After a short time In charge of the Clarence Park circuit, he retired, and was in ill-health until his death.
Mr. Myers described Mr. Walker last night as a very lovable man, gentle, cultured, and an appealing preacher. Three of his brothers entered the Methodist ministry.
