Jane Walker Cowan was the daughter of John Walker 1705 – 1778 and Ann Houston 1710 – 1747. She married Captain William Cowan 1750 – 1809, DAR Ancestor Number A026900, the son of John Cowan 1715 – 1803 and Janette Weathersby 1719 – 1745.

Captain and Mrs. Cowan were the parents of:

(1) Eleanor Cowan married James Gillespie (2) Samuel Franklin Cowan md Esther Houston (3) John Cowan married Rosannah Gillespie (4) Andrew Cowan married Hattie Houston (5) James Walker Cowan

Per SAR Membership Number 87499, Jane Walker Cowan was the granddaughter of John Walker 1680 – 1734

Jane Houston Walker was born in 1755 in Virginia. She married William Cowan in 1773 in Virginia. They had eleven known children. She died in 1806 at the age of 51.
