Alleged to have rebuilt the family cabin by herself when husband was gone for a Civil War soldier.
Tombstone in Double Springs old cemetery, hard to read. It gives a date in 1894 as her death.[5] Find A Grave has death date 26 Jul 1894. However, R. D. Flowers has a copy of a letter from her to a son that is dated and postmarked 1895, and a photograph copied from an old tintype. Both these originals were supplied to him by Tennessee Louisa McMahan Trew, Maacha's granddaughter.
In a census extract, she is listed as Mroclah. In another, she is listed as M. C. McMahan.
