Biography

Nathan Walker, son of Daniel Walker and Mary Perry, was born May 4, 1744.[1][2][3] He married Catharine Johnson and they had eleven children Nathan passed away October 19, 1823 in Ferrisburgh, Vermont.[4][5][6]

Nathan spent his young years in Attleboro, Bristol, Massachusetts Bay where his father had inherited property from his father. Both Nathan and his father were farmers. Before 1766 Nathan married and they settled in Shaftsbury Vermont. They had nine children:[2][4]

  1. Philip was born in Attleboro April 28, 1766 (or by family records February, 1764). He died March 31, 1840. He married Hannah Field January of 1796.[7]
  2. Johnson was born September 15, 1768 and died April 17, 1826. His wife was Elizabeth, daughter of George Gaige of Ferrisburgh, Vt.[8]
  3. Obadiah was born November of 1770. He passed away January 13, 1813. Obadiah married Betsey, the daughter of Zuriel Tupper of Ferrisburgh, Vermont, on January 17, 1795.[8]
  4. Daniel was born about 1771 or 1772. He passed away August of 1851. Daniel married Electa, the daughter of Jason Newton in 1793.[8]
  5. William was born February 23, 1775. He passed away February 6, 1852. William married twice. His first marriage was on October 10, 1798 to Betsey, the daughter of James Burroughs. On December 1, 1821 he married his second wife, Mrs Fanny Shumway.[8]
  6. Nathan was born about 1777 and passed away May of 1853. Nathan, like his brother, Obadiah, married the daughter of Zurial of Ferrisburrgh, Vermont. her name was Wealthy.[9]
  7. Solomon was born about 1779. He passed away December 3, 1810. Solomon married the granddaughter of Zuriel Tupper, Polly. Her father was Absalom,[9]
  8. Catharine was born about 1770 and she passed away about 1844 or 1845. Catharine married William M. Saxton, the son of Jonathan, of Ferrisburgh, Vt in 1804.[9]
  9. Ebenezer was born about 1784. He passed away February 10, 1844. Ebenezer married in Spring of 1806 Electra, daughter of Thomas Hill, Esq of Charlotte, Chittenden County,. Vermont. She was the god daughter of Governor Chittenden of Vermont.[9]

All Nathan's children were born in Attleboro. When his yougest boy was about 6, in 1790 he removed to Ferrisburgh, Vermont[2][4] where he lived until he passed away in 1823. Burial was at Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh.[5]
