Biography

Jane Walker was a descendant of Colonel John Walker 1728 – 1796, DAR Ancestor Number A119449 and Elizabeth Watson Walker, 1731 – 1808. Colonel Walker was one of the Signers of the Tryon Resolves.

Jane appears to possibly be a daughter of James Walker and not Thomas Walker. Thomas would have been her Grandfather. See Reference below.

The State of North Carolina--Polk Co..Sept 16, 1893.

To all men by these presents that we the undersigned have this day sold our interest we have in the tract of land our father left us by his decease to A. B. Walker for one dollar each to hold his land from our claims..

This deed was filed many years after it was actually signed. There may have been other children who were deceased before this deed was executed..

Jane married William Johnson, a War of 1812 Veteran, in December 1816 at the house of Samuel Johnson. He passed away in 1858. After his death, she filed a pension request which was rejected. [1]


The 1850 census places her birth as 1810, the other census sources place her her at about 1801.

Her father's profile has conflicting information concerning his date of death.
