When William R Walker was born on June 16, 1826, in Wilkes, North Carolina, his father, Turner, was 27 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 17.
His first wife was Mary Beshears before 1950 and they had six children. He then married Martha Keys after 1860 and they had seven children.
He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War, as a Private in the 53rd Regiment, North Carolina Infantry. He died in about 1891 in North Carolina at the age of 74.
